Realizing a New Vision for Agriculture

Farmers till a fieldWorld Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum's New Vision for Agriculture initiative addresses the major challenges of global food and agricultural sustainability based on a vision of agriculture as a positive contributor to food security, environmental sustainability and economic opportunity.

To advance progress toward that vision, a 2010 roadmap outlined a framework for action to implement business-led and market-based solutions that are explicitly linked to national development priorities.

In 2013, the initiative launched a second report, outlining progress and key actions to scale the impact of New Vision for Agriculture partnerships.

A new partnership model developed by the New Vision for Agriculture initiative helps stakeholders coordinate

efforts and investments to achieve shared goals in the agriculture sector. The initiative has catalysed innovative multistakeholder partnerships in 11 countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America to achieve a vision of agriculture-sector transformation.

This initiative directly aligns with the United States' renewed commitment to agriculture-led development. We proudly support its vision and commit to being a leader in creating synergies between public and private partners to meet the global food security challenge. We also applaud the global companies who are champions of the New Vision initiative.
